Fortress is an expressive mini sculpture by renowned artist Bertil Vallien, created as part of his anniversary collection celebrating 60 years as a glass artist in 2023. In this striking work, Vallien unites two of his signature expressions, blending human form with material strength.
The deep blue crucible glass is cast in a graphite mould, while the head is hand-painted in gold and fired by master glassblowers in the foundry, resulting in a powerful and tactile finish. Sculptural and symbolic, Fortress is a compelling piece of contemporary glass art.
