The Rolex GMT Master reference 16753 is a highly collectible two-tone (stainless steel and 18ct Yellow Gold) vintage watch powered by the self-winding calibre 3075 movement with quick-set date function. This reference is considered transitional, blending vintage aesthetics such as friction bezel, plexi-glass crystal and tritium dial, with modern functionality of a quick-set date.
The watch has a 40mm diameter stainless steel Oyster case with a screw-down crown, a common characteristic of Rolex's professional series.
The bi-directional rotatable bezel has an aluminium insert in 18ct yellow gold and black, denoting a 24-hour scale for measuring a second time-zone.
The dial is black gloss featuring applied Tritium hour markers edged in gold to prevent bleeding. The "Swiss - T < 25" print at the bottom indicates the use of Tritium luminescence.
The dial is viewed through an acrylic crystal (plexi-glass), which includes the iconic Cyclops magnification lens over the date display at the 3 o'clock position.
The watch is powered by the self-winding Rolex Caliber 3075 automatic movement, providing the GMT (dual time zone) function and a quickset date feature, which was an upgrade from previous models.
The watch comes on a matching two-tone Rolesor (stainless steel and 18ct yellow gold) Jubilee bracelet (reference 62523H), dating to the fourth quarter of 1985, indicating that it is original to the watch.
The watch was originally waterproof to 100 meters, though as this is now a vintage piece we would not advise testing that limit.
This particular example is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition with minimal signs of careful wear. The Jubilee bracelet is also in excellent cosmetic condition though does display some stretch, which is perfectly normal on a vintage Jubilee bracelet, more so one with 18ct Gold centre links. The watch will be provided with an original Rolex box of commensurate age.
