The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 1503/8 is a rare and luxurious vintage timepiece characterised by its solid 18ct yellow gold construction and classic 34mm case size. This reference is highly regarded by Collectors for its elegant proportions and refined, all-gold aesthetic.
The watch has a 34mm 18ct yellow gold Oyster case with a fluted bezel and screw-down crown. The watch is powered by the automatic calibre 1570. With the date function, they were widely referred to as calibre 1575, however, the movement-bridge will always be stamped as 1570. This movement is Superlative Chronometer rated and provides hacking seconds and a non-quickset date function. As a vintage reference the watch has a Plexiglass (acrylic) crystal, featuring the signature Cyclops lens over the date at 3 o'clock for 2.5x magnification. The watch is rated to 100 metre water resistance.
This particular example is in immaculate cosmetic and mechanical condition and features a brushed champagne dial with rare sloped gold block baton indices. The dial is signed 'T Swiss T' which denotes the original Tritium luminous material used on the dial and hands. the dial has not been refinished and remains in perfect original condition. Hands are also original. The watch is supplied on a vintage non oem alligator leather strap with genuine gold plated Rolex buckle, and will come with a Rolex service pouch.
